BabyMomma gotta talk and drive!

Today I chilled my way down Carondolet with the trailer.  Going to pick up Phin and Finn from drums class this eveningl.

I love my ride, but it does involve some fear.  I see these women with 4 kids in the back seat, no seatbelts, talking on the cell phone while trying to pass me, only so I can pass her back at the next traffic light...well....I fear for my life.

Unkind

Poydras Avenue is a most unkind street.  The suburbs hit the city here.  Drivers most unkind.

Day One

Not really, since I've ridden to work since Ash Wednesday, but "Day One" of the blog so day one on the blog.

The goal here is to create a simple web form using Google Docs that I will publish here and I'll atempt to make some statistical sense of the experience of cycling to work in New Orleans.  Data collected should include "weather, traffic, agression, kindness, pace, and a special comments section."  I'm sure I'll add more, but I'm not editing that doc now, just getting started.

Start 8:07 AM
Finish 8:21 AM

Medium Traffic
EASY ride, feeling good, and good pace.  No issues with motorized traffic.  Caught a block behind an 18 wheeler and the stretch under the elevated expressway was worry free.
Splendid weather.  Really amazing.

Developed a new "move" for St. Charles.  Stopping on the left against the telephone pole puts you in a high visibility spot, where all drivers waiting at the light are sure to see you.  Also you get a downhill surge to kick off from the light so you're back in the bike lane before you are any hinderance to the motorists.

Must get some toe clips.  Thinking some old school leather wrapped ones.
